Nov. 24, 2014

We opened the crossing on the lake where we cross with the bombers. The ice was piled up all across the opening around 5 feet high. We still haven’t gone out very far onto the lake as it still is not safe. As of 11/24/14 Monday there was a stretch of open water in about 20 feet of water. Looks like it runs from zipper bay down across pine island and is about 10 yards wide in some spots. Hopefully with the cold weather this week it will freeze up and seal the open water up. It is suppose to be 7 below zero on Wednesday . We will keep checking things this week.looks like Wednesday we are going to flood the sand on the crossing to freeze it solid . So it is ready to pull houses across when that time comes.

Oct. 20, 2014

Fishing has been excellent mid day  in 16 to 18 feet of water and toward evening from 4 to 6 pm moving into 10 to 11 feet of water using gold jigs and shinners. Shinners haven’t run lately so there a little hard to find at the bait store. Frozen are working good and seem to be well stocked as well as fat heads. Looks like lots of nice weather coming this week with some warmer temps. Fishing should stay really good!

Sept. 26, 2014

As the water temps continue to cool down the fall walleye fishing is jut getting started in front of Morris Point Gap. Anywhere from 14 to 20 ft of water, using bright colored jigs with fat heads or frozen shiners is working well.  Evening fishing has been very good from 3 p.m. until dark (7 p.m.). Fishing will continue to get better as the month goes on and into October.

May 10, 2014

The fishing opener is finally here even though the weather hasn’t felt that way, opening day is beautiful sunny and 65 degrees with a light south wind. It pushed the ice north so the lake is open through Morris Point Gap and across Pine Island down to light house gap. Lots of people are fishing today with good success on minnows and frozen Shinners with a gold jig in depths of water from 4 feet all the way out to 21 feet lots of nice keepers and some big fish being caught. Northern fishing is excellent in the bays. Have a great day of fishing!

December 12, 2013

Ice conditions are good and getting better everyday. We’re at 12 in. on the big lake where we’re located. Make sure to check with your local resorts as ice conditions may vary where you travel. Fishing has been fantastic with lots of nice walleye and saugers being caught in depths of 18 to 25 ft. of water. A variety of colors are working for jigs, along with fat head minnows. Watch for further updates.

December 2, 2013

Things are really coming along. Conditions keep improving on Bostic Bay which now is measuring 7 to 10 in. Lake of the Woods has a strong 7 in. on it and we are hoping to have the bombers running the crossing by Tuesday this week, with cold weather predicted all week. We hope to start pulling out the fish houses by Wednesday.

November 26, 2013

Marked Bostic Bay from road all the way to the bomber crossing and found at least 5 in. in general to 6 to 7 inches. A few more days of cold weather will really help and there is very little snow to blanket the ice. The Big Lake is showing 4 to 5 in., but very patchy and is not ready for travel. Cold weather in the upcoming days with keep generating ice there as well. Check back for further updates!

November 23, 2013

Lake of the Woods froze over on November 22nd. Hopefully the ice is here to stay. It was -4° on Friday and expected -10° on Saturday. The back bays are completely frozen over, travel is not advised for at least a few more days. Watch for further reports.

August 15, 2013

Fishing has been great in 32 to 34 feet going east of long point. Lot of luck using 2 oz bottom bouncers and crawlers on gold spinners. Down rigging in same depths is producing lots of big fish.

June 18, 2013

Fishing has been fantastic in the shallow water off Morris Point and Pine Island in 6 to 15 feet of water pulling plugs in the morning and evening and drifting or trolling spinners with minnows, leaches, crawlers and shiners. All are working good with spinner colors working as well in the hammered gold, red glow and white colors. Other depths out to 25 feet have been turning on as well.  Don’t forget the northerns! The fishing has been unreal in Bostic Creek and Morris Point in the 4 Mile Bay area. Northerns caught from 15 lbs to 25 lbs. One group along boating over 150 fish this past week! Have a great day fishing and check back for further updates.

June 6, 2013

Fishing has been very good in depths of water from 10 to 20 feet using gold jigs while trolling or drifting gold spinners. Leaches seem to be landing some of the bigger fish. Frozen shiners and fat heads are working well along with night crawlers. Trolling slow has been effective as the water is starting to clear up. Without much rain, warmer temperatures and sunshine has really helped the fishing. It’s been fantastic with lots of nice limits of walleyes and saugers. Don’t forget about those northerns! Action has been good in the back bays. Watch for further updates.

April 9, 2013

Rainy River is open up to Clementson with boats launching out of Frontier Access. Open water fishing is looking good! Trucks are still driving out on the ice and having good luck. This is the last weekend for Walleye Fishing until May 11th Fishing opener. Northern Pike is open year round and with Sturgeon fishing getting close take advantage of our $39.00 per person per night Special!

March 15th, 2013

Fishing hasn’t changed much. We’re in 25 – 27 feet of water, sorting through lots of smaller fish with some keepers and some bigger slot fish. The northern fishing on Lake of the Woods has been fabulous! Check back soon for further updates!

March 7h, 2013

We’re in 21 – 27 feet of water, still sorting lots of small fish with keepers mixed with slot fish. Snow cover on the lake is still heavy with about 18 – 20 inches of snow. Ice conditions are great at 36 – 40 inches, needing an extension on the augers to get through. Fishing will continue to pick up as we get into March.

Feb. 28th, 2013

Fishing remains to be spotty in 27 to 29 ft. Lots of sorting through small walleyes and saugers, but still catching lots of slot fish with some big northern pike coming into play. Northerns came in at 22 and 25 lbs and 46 inches long! We are moving houses into 21, 23 and 25 ft. Weather is warming up so fishing is getting better, so check back frequently for updates!

Feb. 23, 2013

We pulled houses back into shallower water 27 to 29 ft. Fishing has been much better than the deeper water with lots of walleyes and saugers. You have to do a lot of sorting, but plenty of fish to eat, some to take home with quite a few slot fish and a few trophy fish to showcase on the wall. Spring is right around the corner as we enter into to March and we will keep moving shallower as spring gets closer. Check back for continuous updates!

Feb. 4, 2013

Not much has changed with the fishing scene. We are moving our houses in to shallower depths of 28-30 feet to test out the action. There are still quite a few small ones being caught with a mixture of keepers and slot fish. We’re looking forward to the warmer temperatures this week and next!

Jan. 25, 2013

Fishing continues to be a little spotty, but the best action is in 33-34 feet of water. There are nice slot fish being caught and sorting through lots of smaller saugers and walleyes. There is still a good amount being kept to eat and hopefully the weather stabilizes the next couple of days for great fishing this weekend!

Jan. 18, 2013

We are fishing in 33-34 feet of water. Fishing has been slower with all the changing weather, but we’re still catching fish you just have to work a little harder to get them! When the weather stables out fishing will pick right back up. Gold jigs still seem to be the prominent fishing lure!

Jan 4, 2013

We are fishing in 30 – 32 ft. of water. Water clarity is good, gold jigs are working well jigging off the bottom. Lots of fish are begin caught with a lot of sorting. We’re seeing a lot of nice saugers and walleyes with some bigger slot fish.

Dec. 21, 2012

We have 11″- 12″ of ice of the big lake and are fishing in 24 – 26 ft. of water. There is a good mix of Walleye’s and Saugers being caught at a steady pace throughout the day. The fish are liking little to no jigging and keeping it right on the bottom. Red, Orange and Yellow Jigs and Stop Signs are the golden ticket.

Dec. 14, 2012

12″, 14″, 12″ fishing has been great, lots of fish, but you have to do some sorting for size! Our guests are doing pretty good and are getting a good mix of walleye and sauger. We are fishing at 21 ft and out to 26 ft of water. Ice conditions still vary, some areas 10-12″ of good ice. As always be safe and check with local resorts before venturing out and watch for updates in the future.

Dec. 10, 2012

Let the Fishing Begin!
Our houses are out on the Lake. The houses are sitting on 17-18″ of ice starting tomorrow. The Big Lake has 9″ of good ice and Bostic Bay has 7-8″. Fishing has been going good, so get ready to enjoy the first Ice Fishing of the year!

Dec. 7, 2012

Checked Bostic Bay and the Big Lake after last night as it was a colder night with a little northwest wind temps it got down to around 10 degrees. Bostic Bay gained a little ice from 4 to 7 inches as of today. Most resorts are not allowing four wheeler traffic on Bostic Bay, the Big Lake has improved some today shore ice was 7 to 9 inches, further out in 12 to 15 ft. was 6 to 7 inches so it is getting better with colder weather. Sunday they are talking well below hopefully we can start sometime next week, safety first. Check with local resorts before heading north for ice conditions. Look for further updates tomorrow.

Dec. 6, 2012

We have been checking Bostic Bay, Four Mile Bay area and the Big Lake on a daily basis. Bostic Bay is not quite ready for the four wheeler traffic, although a few more days of cold weather it should be ready to go. The Big Lake cracked open from Zippel bay toward Lighthouse Gap with a strong southeast wind today, December 7th. We have colder weather forcasted the next few days and as of today there is 7 in. on the main lake but is not ready for the bigger resort houses. Hopefully next week with colder weather arriving we can start pulling our houses on to the big lake, but our customers safety comes first. Watch for further updates tomorrow.
