Lake of the Woods Fishing Report // May 26
2 weeks into the season fishing continues to be good on Lake of the Woods. Seems like the fish have spawned out for the most part and the bigger females are resting and have slowed off the bite the last few days as not as many big fish have been caught. Lots of Males are milking and fertilizing those eggs. Good numbers of eaters are coming in.
We are still seeing lots of success in the shallow water 4 to 10 feet with bright colored jigs and a minnow. Live fathead minnows are out producing the frozen shiners this week. Leaches are coming on strong drifting with a bottom bouncer or Lindy rig with a gold spinner. Worm rigs are starting to have success also. Morris point gap and along pine island down to lighthouse gap are producing some good fishing and will continue to get better as June approaches and the fish move to a little deeper water. Northern action continues to be very impressive this past week with lots of nice pike being Boated.
Most important this week is our water levels are improving and more water is coming and bringing the lake levels up.
Tuesday taco’s start this week and Friday and grill your own Ribeye fresh certified Angus Beef and all you can eat peel and eat steamed shrimp starts Saturday at Ken Mar Ke. The best pizza on the lake is available in the evening every night. Try our new flatbread appetizers.
Stay safe and have a great holiday weekend.
Hope to see ya soon.
