Ken-Mar-Ke Resort, a high-end resort on Lake of the Woods, is seeking a Bartender. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated with a positive attitude, excellent people skills, and strong attention to detail.


  • Report to management on time for each shift
  • Perform bar set up, side work, and closing duties
  • Sell guests by communicating product knowledge
  • Completes bar clean up
  • Compute guest checks, operate POS system
  • Maintain restaurant safety and sanitation
  • Aware of and abides by all liquor service laws
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager

This is a 40 + hours week year-round position and must be able to work weekends and holidays, in all types of summer and winter weather.

Must have a proven ability to deliver courteous, professional communications to customers, co-workers, and management.

Applicant will need intermediate working knowledge of facilities maintenance such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing and machinery repairs as needed.

Duties include: Managing daily resort operations including the Ice Fishing team, Ice fishing operations and open water fishing operations. Winter operations include Ice house maintenance, site selection, ice road maintenance, Ice fishing customer transportation to/from the Ice houses, Ice team, and customer safety management on the lake.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Resort lawn and grounds care, including winter snow removal throughout the resort
  • Light facility maintenance
  • Bait and boat fuel sales to resort customers
  • Charter launch captain as needed
  • Plan and direct the resort’s Ice fishing operations. Manage a small team of winter ice fishing guides and workers, locate and move ice houses for optimal customer fishing experience.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all resort-owned vehicles, ice fishing transportation equipment, plow trucks, Ice fishing transportation vehicles, trail groomer, fishing launches, and boats
  • Respond to, troubleshoot and repair failures in the resorts water, septic systems, docks and facilities
  • Summer charter boat cleaning/fueling/minor maintenance
  • Quickly and clearly communicate machinery conditions, maintenance issues, needed repairs, etc. with resort management
  • Assist with Management and Guest inquiry
  • React quickly in emergency situations and make decisions that may involve the safety of others
  • Support and enforce resort safety standards
  • Be familiar with all company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by the Owner/Management

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Drivers license
  • Experienced fisherman both open water and ice
  • High School Diploma required. Relevant Technical School Training (Preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in one or more of the following trades
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical
    • HVAC
    • General Carpentry
  • Coast Guard Captains License (if you do not have one, one will need to be obtained within 6 – 9 months of start date)
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check and drug test
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, and communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability and desire to quickly learn new skills and technologies needed to be successful in the position
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize assignments and maintain composure under pressure environments
  • Professionalism – Approaches others in a respectable manner, reacts well under pressure, treats others with respect and consideration regardless of status or position., accepts responsibility for own actions, follows through on commitments
  • Must be mechanically inclined, able to fix and maintain equipment, such as (not limited to), lawn mowers, lawn trimmers, lawn and garden sprayers, ATVs, Ice Fishing machinery and vehicles, boats and boat trailers

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, occasionally
  • Must be able to push/pull carts, trailers and adjust, hitch and unhitch boat trailers for launching or retrieving boats from the lake
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate tools and all resort equipment effectively and efficiently; bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks and maintenance requirements
  • Ice fishing operations require the ability to work effectively in freezing cold conditions, summer work and fishing in potentially hot/humid conditions

Salary & Benefits
Salary to be negotiated depending on experience. Ken Mar Ke Resort offers the potential for free lodging, limited use of a company vehicle, and other resort-oriented perks and amenities for the right candidate. In addition to this opportunity, employment may be available for a spouse/significant partner in the lodge in the capacity of bartender, cook, or with housekeeping.

Salary Range: $50,000 – $70,000
